About Me

My photo
After 7 years of dating I finally married my high school sweetheart in Oct of 2009. I had always dreamed of marrying him and starting a family. On February 16, 2011 that dream came true when we welcomed our beautiful baby boy, Colin James, into our lives. I look forward to sharing our joy with you!

Hugs!

I must say, we've had a really great week!  Colin is no longer sick and neither am I!  He still has a little cough. He takes after his daddy in that way.  Kevin gets sick and once he's better he has a cough for several weeks after sometimes!
I keep forgetting to mention Colin's hugs!  He gives the best hugs.  Especially in the morning!  He wraps his little arms around your neck and lays his head down on your shoulder and squeezes!  I love it!  He's also giving "kisses" now!  I lean in towards him with my lips and I make kiss sounds and he opens his mouth and leans in to me!  He's so sweet!  :-)
We are working on using up all of our stage one foods now.  Colin has had a few stage two foods and it seems to fill him up a little more.  It's thicker and has more in the package.

Our nights have gotten much better now.  Some nights he sleeps all the way to 7, other nights he sleeps all night but wakes up around 5, and some nights he still wakes up a few times throughout the night.  After hearing that he might be waking and crying because of separation anxiety I decided to try something.  When he wakes in the middle of the night I try giving him his paci and rubbing his head like I usually do, but if that doesn't work I give him whatever shirt I'm wearing.  He takes it and snuggles with it and goes right back to sleep.  So far this has worked every time!  It comforts him and makes him feel like I'm close without having to pick him up.  Plus, I'm only up for a couple minutes and am able to go back to bed!  I still wish he would sleep in a little later though, but I'll count my blessings.  :-)

I'm getting really excited about fall!  I can't wait for this 100 degree heat to go away!!  I wish it could be either spring or fall all year!  I guess I should move back to Cali for that... :-/  I'm looking forward to Halloween and taking Colin trick-or-treating in his Superman costume we bought him at Six Flags when I was only 3 months pregnant!

Gamma came to visit last Wed!

Colin loves Diesel, but Diesel is still nervous.

Getting too big for his bouncer!

He was watching TV and he looked up at me when I called his name!

Blessed to have such a happy baby!

It's the same toys every time but he looks at them like they are brand new!

Cooper loves Colin and puts up with so much!

He constantly jumps now that he figured out how!!

Loves bath time!

6 Month Checkup

20 lbs 3 oz    27.5 in

Colin had a great 6 month check up and earned an A+ from his Dr!  He was very sweet with his Dr and gave him lots of smiles.  When the Dr came in he was surprised to see him sitting up so well.  He said "Wow, look at you sitting up like your 6 years old, not 6 months old!"  Dr said that Colin is in the 90th percentile for his weight and height.  Which means he's bigger than 90% of other baby boys his age.  He used to be in the 95th percentile, so his growth has slowed down a little because he is more active now.
Dr told me that the stranger and separation anxiety that Colin was experiencing a couple weeks ago was very good and important for his development.  It means that he is developing the right attachments to me.   :-)  He also said that it could correlate with him crying when he wakes at night.  Instead of out of sight out of mind like when he was younger, he now realizes he's alone when he wakes up and it makes him freak out little.  That is definitely getting better now though.
So the Dr said to start giving Colin solids once or twice every day now and to start introducing a sippy cup.  I've let him try a sippy cup a couple times already so I'm excited to let him learn how to use it more efficiently!
I asked the Dr about Colin not rolling over from his back yet.  He said it's not a big deal since he's sitting and standing so well.  So that's good!
The nurse gave him THREE shots today.  The last two times he only had one in each leg, but today she gave him two in his left leg.  He didn't even cry with the first shot, but he did with the second and third.  My poor boy.
All in all Colin is doing GREAT!

Reading up on his shots!

Two shots in one leg... :-(

Even happy after his shots!

After we got back from our trip last weekend Colin had a his first cold.  :-(  He sure was a trooper though.  It didn't seem to really bother him except for the nasal congestion.  I was able to keep his nose pretty clear though, so he was able to breath ok.  I gave him some juice in his sippy cup and he loved it!

My sick baby drinking his juice.

He was sitting up and playing when I walked away and this is where he was when I got back! haha

6 Months Old!

Wow, Colin is already 6 months old!!  Time is going by so fast, it really doesn't seem like it's been 6 months.  So far he has hit every milestone except one!  He's even hit some of the emerging and advanced skills for a 6 month old but he will NOT roll over from his back!  If I lay him on his tummy he only lasts a minute or two before he rolls to his back, but when he's on his back, he has no desire to roll to his tummy.  He will roll to his side and he even sleeps this way sometimes, but he has never pushed all the way to his tummy.  I know he can do it, he just doesn't want to!  Oh well, I'm sure once he realizes he can move around that way he will start to do it nonstop.

Sitting up!

Still needs a pillow behind him though...

First time in a high chair!  8/16/11

We went to College Station this weekend to visit family and friends.  It was a nice trip.  We drove in Friday night and stayed until Tuesday.  I was worried that Colin was going to be real clingy with me again, but he wasn't.  He went to everyone and was real sweet and smiley!

Colin really loves his Uncle Kyle.

Colin with is Great Great Grandma!

We hung out with our friends Kelsey, Tim, and August a few times.  It was so nice to see them again!  Colin and Auggie "played".  Mostly Colin just sat there and played with Auggie's toys until Auggie would realize it and want to play with the same thing!  Auggie is 3 months older than Colin and is SO much fun.  He crawls all over the place and jumps nonstop in his jumper!  He's so curious about everything around him.  It's great.  Although he is starting to wear his momma out!!  He's in his diaper in most the pictures because it's almost impossible to get him to sit still to put clothes on him!  We had a lot of fun though.  Wish we lived a little closer.  On Monday Kelsey took some pictures of the boys for their 6 and 9 month birthdays.  I've seen a few of them so far and they are SO GOOD I can't wait to see the rest!  The first picture on this blog is one of the ones Kelsey took.  It was fun because my job was to get the boys to smile... boy did I get a work out!

haha Me and Auggie... sorry about my face.. lol

My Birthday!

I had such a wonderful birthday!!  It was on a Sat this year, so I was able to celebrate with my friends on my actual birthday. :-)  I'm so grateful for all the people in my life and I feel very blessed that all my friends took the time to come out and have dinner with me on my birthday!  We went to Pasado's at 6pm and had dinner and brownies!  Kevin, Colin, and I went home after dinner and I fed Colin and put him to bed.  Then I got a text from Heather and Chrissy saying I should come back out to see our friend Chris perform.  So I asked Kevin if he minded and he said to go ahead and go out.  :-)  It was SO hot, but I had a good time.   Even though Daniel made me dance... yikes... lol

Then on Sunday my mom came over and spent the day with us.  Colin loves her so much!  Chrissy stopped by on her way out of town.  Colin did what he does best and spit up all over her... :-/  But it didn't make her put him down!  He was cranky because he was ready for bed so she stayed while I bathed him and got him in his jammy's.  Then she held him until he fell asleep on her shoulder!  He really liked her.  :-)  After having such a bad weekend spit up wise, he only spit up a few times yesterday and it was only a little each time.  I don't understand what makes him spit up more one day and then not much the next day...

Now for pictures from my birthday weekend!! This is only some of them, the rest are on my facebook. :-)
