About Me

My photo
After 7 years of dating I finally married my high school sweetheart in Oct of 2009. I had always dreamed of marrying him and starting a family. On February 16, 2011 that dream came true when we welcomed our beautiful baby boy, Colin James, into our lives. I look forward to sharing our joy with you!

More Changes!

I done hurt myself

Now that Colin is 12 months old and officially a toddler, we have had to make some changes around the apartment.  We are putting up his bouncer that he has sat in since he was born.  He is way too big for it, but we still let him sit in it in the morning to drink his bottle.  Now that he has a big boy chair, he is sitting in that to drink his milk from a sippy cup.  I put all the bottles up yesterday... no more baby bottles, just a sippy cup!!  He made the transition just fine.  I have some formula left and am still trying to transition him from that to whole cows milk.  Right now he has half formula and half milk in his cup.  He was only getting one bottle in the morning, but the Dr said he still needs 16 oz of milk a day, unless he gets his calcium from something else.  He does eat yogurt and cheese throughout the day, but I'd rather give him the 16 oz of milk as well, just to make sure!  The Dr also said that it is ok to start using toddler tooth paste, so I'm going to start doing that instead of just using water.  He has 5 1/2 teeth right now!  I think we are going to lower his crib to the lowest setting now.  He hasn't tired to climb out yet, but I'd rather get it over with.  We lowered it to the second lowest setting when he started pulling up, so it will only be a couple inches lower than what it is now.

Colin fell down outside the other day and scraped his forehead on the ground. I was impressed with how tough he is. He fell and started crying, but stopped after a couple seconds. It was a nasty scrape too... :-( I hope it heals quickly!

Yesterday, my mom, Colin, and I went to the park to play.  Colin just wanted to walk everywhere, he didn't have much interest in the playground.  However, he did like the ride on animals!  I put him on it and rocked him back and forth!  He loved it!  Then we went over to the swings and he really loved that!  He laughed and had a great time!  I can't wait for the weather to warm up for good so we can do that more often.  :-)

Drinking his milk while sitting in his chair!

And of course watching his morning shows!

This was taken last week sometime. Thought it was cute!

Let me back on mommy!!

Birthday Party

We had such a wonderful time at Colin's birthday party!  Thank you everyone for coming and sharing Colin's day with us!
Colin fell asleep in the car on our way to Wylie, so he didn't go down for a nap before his party... He was a bit cranky, but overall he did very well.  We ate lunch around 12:30, after that we opened presents, and then we ate cake!  In my eyes, everything went smoothly.  :-)  I feel so blessed that so many people showed up to celebrate!
Here is a video of all of Colin's birthday fun!  Including all the pictures and video from the aquarium!  :-)  The actual pictures from his party are up on my facebook.

12 Month Check Up and The Aquarium

Friday we had Colin's 12 month check up.  It went really well and the Dr said that he is doing great.  His walking is right on track.  He is 25 lbs 14 oz and 31 in tall.  75-90 percentile for both. We mentioned that he hasn't been saying Dada as much anymore and the Dr said that it is normal for babies to forget about some milestones as they hit another big milestone.  So when he started walking, he kinda forgot about Dada for a while.  He just started saying it again yesterday though.  :-)  He had 3 shots, including the MMR.  I've heard that a lot of babies have bad reactions to it and end up being very cranky the rest of the day and sometimes get a fever.  Colin wasn't affected at all!  He was happy and in a great mood the rest of the day.  He did have a little bit of redness where the needle was, but it didn't seem to bother him.  I can't believe his next Dr appointment will be when he's 15 months old!!  Eeek!

Today is Colin's 1st Birthday!!

Dear Colin,
My oh my how our lives have changed since you came into our world!  One year ago today, daddy and I were at the hospital waiting your arrival.  We were so excited and full of anticipation!  We loved you before you were even born and that love grew the moment we laid our eyes on you.  Now, a year later, we have watched you grow from a newborn baby into a little boy who can walk, play, and dance!  Seeing how you have changed in such a short time is truly amazing.  Every new thing you do is such a wonderful moment for us.  We love to see the wonder in your eyes when you see something new.  Mommy and daddy love you so much!  You are loved, appreciated, and adored!  Our lives are full of joy and happiness and we are so blessed to call you our son.  Daddy and I look forward to watching you continue to grow, learn, and become your own little person!  You are the light of our lives Colin James.  Happy 1st birthday!

Love,
Mommy

Kevin's Birthday

Someone found Diesels bed!

Well, Colin is officially a walker.  He's no longer just taking steps here and there.  He walks all over now.  He doesn't walk much outside still, but that's mostly because he's not used to his shoes yet and gets tripped up.  He still looks like a drunk man though as he wobbles around the apt.  :-)

I ordered Colin's plates, napkins, etc. for his  party last week and they came in today.  I'm so excited!  I'm still waiting for his cake topper to come in.  Shannon is making him a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake, so I ordered figurines of the characters to place on it.

Yesterday was Kevin's birthday.  We didn't really get to do anything because Kevin had to work all day and then he had practice at night.  We did meet him for lunch though.  I made him a cake but we didn't get to eat it until he got home from practice.  Colin was in bed, so he had his taste of cake today after lunch!  He loved it and made mess!

That's all I can think of for now, so here are some pictures!

Eating some of daddy's birthday cake!
