15 Months Old!

15 Months Old
It has been 15 months since our little baby boy was born!!  And 2 YEARS since we became pregnant!  It's so crazy to think how fast time is flying by.  It's amazing how he's only been in our lives for a short time, but it's like every moment before he was born was just a dream.  It's hard to imagine our lives without him now. 

Allergies
I think Colin may have some seasonal allergies.  His nose has been a bit runny lately, but not sick-runny.  He may have a slight allergy to strawberries as well.  I'm not sure though because his skin doesn't break out around his mouth, he just gets a diaper rash.  Hopefully it is just that they are a little acidic.  He can have one and he's fine, but if I give him several, they burn his little bum.  His nose has also been a little runny at night time because he has 3 molars cutting right now.  He's been pretty calm with it until the last few nights.  Nothing a little Tylenol doesn't help though!  :-) 

Current Events
One of his favorite things to do right now is put the caps on his cups.  He will set the cup down, and put the cap on when he's done.  He likes to be helpful!  I was cleaning the patio doors the other day and he grabbed the paper towel from me and started wiping the window like I was!  He also likes to help me feed Diesel.  Even if he does it one nugget at a time! 

Yesterday my mom came over and when I put Colin's car seat in the car, I decided to let him sit forward since we weren't going far.  I know a lot of people face their children forward at 12 months or 20 pounds, but all the recommendations now say they should stay rear facing until they are 24 months or 35 pounds.  Anyway, I put him in it forward and he LOVED it!  He was smiling and happy and kept trying to get our attention.  I think I may go ahead and switch him to front facing in our car now.  He's about 30 pounds and tall.  So I really think he will be OK.

Finally, about a month ago we weaned Colin completely off formula.  We slowly weaned him because he was so picky at first.  We were down to 1 oz formula in 7 oz of whole milk when we tried a cup of just milk and he drank it all.  It's SO much cheaper!  He's still picky about it needing to be warm though. He will NOT drink it cold! lol

Once we run out of the size 4 diapers we have now we are going to buy size 5 diapers.  Size 5 diapers are for children who weigh 27 lbs and up, so they should fit him very well!  :-)  I need to start buying new jammy's for him as well.  He has grown out of all his 12 month pj's, and fits perfectly in his 18 month jammy's, so I guess I need to buy some 24 month ones.  His legs are short though, so in regular clothes, he can still wear some 12 month pants, but he needs 18-24 month tops! 

Well, I think that's everything!  Colin has his 15 month appointment on Friday morning, so I'm sure I'll update again then!

Easter
This year was Colin's SECOND Easter!  I can't believe he's had all his first holiday's already.  It's crazy how fast time flies.  We tried twice to get his picture taken with the Easter Bunny, but that was impossible.  He never wants to sit still anymore, and forget about him sitting in a "strangers" lap.  It's weird because some people can come right up to him and he's fine, while with others, he clings to me and won't let go.  Kevin's parents went out of town for Easter, so we had my mom and brother come over for a little bit and then we headed over to Kevin's Uncles house.  We ate dinner over there and Colin "searched" for eggs with his cousins.  It was super cute because we would point out the eggs and he would pick them up and put them in the basket.  Then he just wanted to play with them by throwing them out of the basket and putting them back in, over and over.



Colin is really his own little person now.  He chases Diesel around the apartment and wants Diesel to chase him.  When we chase him, he runs into his room and starts screaming with excitement!  He loves to make noises and pat his mouth at the same time.  He likes to give daddy high fives, then look at me, wait for me to clap, then he starts clapping.  His favorite toy is the broom!  He climbs on the coffee table and dances, and stomps around, then he gets nervous and starts to cry because he can't get down...  He LOVES to be outside and climb the stairs, so much in fact that he will scream and cry when I pick him up to bring him inside.

Colin just brings to much joy into our lives.  When he wakes up in the morning, he gives us such a big smile and when he sees his cup of milk he squeals and holds his hands out! Then he will stomp around the kitchen drinking it.  I'm already so proud of the little person he has become.  His new favorite word is "Um."  He says mama all the time now.  When Kevin comes home, Colin hears the key turn in the door and he jumps up saying "Daddy" and runs to the door!  What a wonderful life we have with our little boy!  :-)

Down to One Nap.

I'm pretty sure Colin has dropped one of his naps.  He used to wake up at 7 and have a nice long morning and afternoon nap.  Lately he's been staying up until 12pm or 1pm before going down for a nap.  It tends to be longer though, from 2-3 hours, so that's nice.  :-)  Then he's up until bedtime at 7.  I don't mind it at all as long as he's not cranky.  Last night we had a rough night and he woke up at 7am, but he's still up running around and playing right now (it's 12:30pm.)  I'm going to put him down right after I finish writing this. 

The other day Colin only took about a 30 minute nap, so at dinner time he started to fall asleep while eating.  I couldn't believe how tired he was!  But he still kept trying to eat his dinner even though his eyes were shut.  :-)   I'll post the video below.

Colin has been saying "Mama" a lot more lately.  He still mostly says it when he's sad or upset.  Of course Daddy and Dada are his preferred words!  I love it when Kevin comes home from work because Colin gets so excited.  As soon as he hears the door he gets up and walks over to see who it is and when he sees daddy, he makes all kinds of cute noises.  Then Kevin and Colin play and it makes Colin very happy. 

Kevin and I are going to take Colin to get his hair cut this weekend.  I think it's about time.  He did get complemented on his curls yesterday at the mall play area.  The back is so long it curls around his ears! 

I started using baby toothpaste.  Colin likes getting his teeth brushed much better now.  He used to pull away and try to force his mouth shut, but now he actually smiles and enjoys the flavor!  I don't know how clean I actually get his teeth though... But it's better than nothing!

Colin has a wonderful relationship with his Gamma (my mom.)  It's so sweet to see how excited he becomes when she comes over.  I have a video of it that I need to edit and post.  It's super cute.

No Appetite...

Strange things are happening in the Harrell household.  Colin's appetite is nonexistent.  The Dr said that it should decrease due to the fact that his growth should be slowing down now.  I didn't know it would decrease this much though.  He used to wake up, have a 6 oz cup of milk, eat solid breakfast a couple hours later, have some yogurt a couple hours after that, eat lunch, have another 6 oz cup of milk, another snack, and then dinner.  He would eat it ALL and sometimes want more.  Now he isn't finishing his food or his milk, he even throws some food on the floor.  He laughs when Diesel eats it... haha  He still enjoys his yogurt and snacks though.  One good thing, our grocery bill will go down!  I guess I'm just not used to it.  He's also been very cranky the past week or so.  I still think it might be his molars.  I can't see any just yet, but that doesn't mean they aren't there!  He's had bad diaper rashes and his temp was elevated a little too.  He even had a fever of 101 yesterday.  I hate to see him so uncomfortable.  He poos and it immediately starts to burn his bum.  I have to use a cool wet wash cloth to wipe him because the baby wipes make it burn (even the sensitive ones.)  :-(  I feel so bad for him.  He's also been chewing on his paci's with the back of his mouth.  Which makes me believe his molars are bothering him. 

A couple days ago my left eye felt a little itchy.  It wasn't bad, it just felt like there was a piece of dirt caught under my eyelid.  Then yesterday I woke up with a swollen, oozy eye!!!  Throughout the day it got worse and worse... :-(  I'm almost positive it's pink eye.  I also have a swollen gland in front of my left ear and my nose is congested.  I'm sure it's all related.  I'm going to the Dr this evening, so I hope they can give me something.  I've never had this before and it's miserable!  My biggest concern is passing it on to Colin.  I am being very careful not to touch my eye and not to get any where near Colin's eyes.  So far he doesn't seem to have any symptoms.  I pray it stays that way.
